Six Accountants Join Pittsburgh Office of Malin Bergquist
Jan. 6, 2012 – Six accountants have joined the public accounting firm of Malin Bergquist in Pittsburgh. They include Nicholas Burkett, Carly DiGennaro, Amy Mae Langworthy, Kathy Sisler, CPA, Vincent Son, CPA and Chuan Yang.
Burkett, a staff accountant, spent the past four years in the accounting and real estate departments of supermarket retailer Giant Eagle, one of the largest, privately owned and family-operated companies in the region. He is a 2002 graduate of Duquesne University, cum laude, where he received his bachelor of science in accounting, and a 2008 graduate of Duquesne University’s School of Law.
DiGennaro, a staff accountant, is a 2011 graduate of Washington & Jefferson College with a bachelor of arts degree in accounting. As an undergraduate, she served in an accounting internship with a Pittsburgh-based online retailer specializing in independent women's fashion and décor, and as a finance intern with the Lawrence County Community Action Partnership in New Castle, PA. She also worked as an account clerk with the W&J College Business and Finance Office.
Langworthy, a staff accountant, has six years’ of in-house experience working for construction companies in Nevada and Arizona with significant experience with large airport construction accounting. She obtained her master of science in accounting in 2010 from the University of Nevada Las Vegas and her bachelor’s degree in political science from Northern Arizona University in 2004.
Sisler, a tax supervisor, has wide-ranging experience as the assistant bursar of a college, the controller of a manufacturing company, and international experience with operations in both Dubai and India. For two years she was controller of the international architectural firm of Burt Hill, based in Pittsburgh. She is a former finance committee member of the American Red Cross, Butler chapter and former board director of the National Association of Female Executives, Pittsburgh chapter. She holds a bachelor of arts degree in accounting from Grove City College (1983) and has been licensed as a CPA in Pennsylvania since 1985.
Son, an audit senior, has eight years of public accounting and auditing experience, with specialty expertise in the manufacturing, construction and non-profit industries. He previously was a senior staff accountant with a firm in Pittsburgh. He volunteers his time as treasurer of Community Human Services Corporation in the Oakland section of Pittsburgh. He holds a bachelor of science in business administration degree from Waynesburg University (2003).
Yang, a staff accountant, is a 2011 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, receiving a bachelor of science degree in business administration. While in college, he was an in-house accountant at a Pittsburgh plumbing company. He was a member of the University of Pittsburgh Accounting Association. He is bilingual in Chinese and English.
