Elected to Succeed Bluemling as Malin Bergquist CEO
PITTSBURGH, PA, July 7, 2010 – After serving for three years as CEO of the Malin Bergquist accounting firm, David Bluemling is turning over the reigns to Jeffrey Deane, who recently was unanimously elected CEO by the firm's partners.
"Having spent the past nine years managing our firm, it's time for me to refocus more on my clients and to give opportunity to other young leaders," Bluemling said. "Jeff is ready for this position, and I look forward to assisting him while more directly helping my clients reach their goals."
Deane heads Malin Bergquist's International Businesses Group and has served on the firm's executive committee for three years. Under his leadership, the firm has become known for its specialty in accounting for German and foreign-owned clients and its sponsorship of the German American Business Circle and Pittsburgh G-20 Summit. Deane is a nationally known expert in international financial reporting standards (IFRS), which will replace U.S. standards within the next few years.
Bluemling remains on the firm's executive committee and will continue his tax practice serving businesses and high net worth individuals. During his term as CEO, the firm doubled in size with two major mergers, and grew in the Pittsburgh Business Times' annual ranking of the region's largest CPA firms. Earlier, he was managing partner of the firm's Pittsburgh office for six years, dating to 2001 when the firm completed an earlier merger with an Erie firm.
