PITTSBURGH, PA, Dec. 11, 2009 – Partners Jeffrey Deane(head of the International Businesses Group) and Stephen Heilman of the CPA firm of Malin Bergquist, are assisting American Institute of Certified Public Accountants by helping prepare questions for future Uniform CPA Examinations.
During the year, Deane and Heilman have spent significant time at AICPA’s headquarters in New York City suggesting new examination questions covering the upcoming convergence of U.S. and international financial reporting standards (IFRS). This trend comes at a time when college and university business schools are beginning to include IFRS in their curricula, especially important as a critical mass of accounting faculty are not yet well-versed in these new accounting principles.
Deane and Heilman are recognized national authority on IFRS. They have co-authored guest columns this past year in the Journal of Accountancy and Erie’s Business Magazine. Deane has also co-authored a guest column in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Deane has been quoted in related stories on IFRS.com and the Pittsburgh Business Times. Deane and Heilman have made many IFRS presentations to professional service firms and universities.
