Flabeg Solar US Corporation – part of a worldwide specialty glass coating group, provides a full product line of high performance mirrors for concentrating solar power (CSP) and other solar technologies, including parabolic trough, power tower, linear Fresnel and dish applications. Its parent, Flabeg, is headquartered in Nuernberg, Germany and comprised of three core competencies: automotive mirrors, technical glass and CSP mirrors. Since 1982, Flabeg has provided 1,394 MW of installed power generation worldwide. The first commercial solar plants built in California in the 1980’s are living proof of the high quality, efficiency, and durability of Flabeg’s products.
Flabeg Solar will begin production of the number one-rated high performance solar thermal mirrors in Greater Pittsburgh in the Fall of 2009. Concentrated solar power systems produce heat and electricity when using thousands of mirrors to concentrate the sun’s rays. Flabeg Solar chose Allegheny County based on its skilled workforce, which will be tapped to fill the 200 jobs being created at Clinton Commerce Park. Its advantage comes from use of new technologies through innovative engineering in order to provide renewable solar energy for our future.
