Malin Bergquist Promotes Seven Professionals

 

March 17, 2008 – Seven accountants have been promoted at Malin, Bergquist and Company, LLP, one of Western Pennsylvania’s largest and fastest-growing certified public accounting firms.

 

They include Lisa Block (to senior accountant), Steven Bruckner (staff accountant II), Timothy Carfang (senior accountant) Lori Hetrick (senior accountant), Sean Kocan (supervisor), Nicole Sloboda (senior accountant) and Pamela Varsafsky (centralized billing).

  • Block – serves as an auditor with the firm’s International and Public Company/SEC Groups and obtained her CPA license in 2007. She is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh (B.S., 2002) and the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg (2004).
  • Bruckner – is a member of the firm’s Public Company/SEC Group, and helped Rex Energy Corporation complete an initial public offering last year. He is a 2006 graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania and holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • Carfang – serves as an auditor with the firm’s International and Closely Held Business Advisors Groups. He is a 2004 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg with a bachelor of science degree in management/accounting.
  • Hetrick – is an auditor with the firm’s Not-for-Profit Group and a member of the firm’s Business Valuations, Forensic and Litigation Support Group. She received her CPA designation in 2007. Previously, she was the staff accountant for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Erie.
  • Kocan - earned his bachelor of science degree in accounting in 2004 from Robert Morris University and received his CPA designation in 2006. A member primarily of the firm’s Public Company/SEC and International Groups, he supervises audits within all of the firm’s groups.
  • Sloboda - is a member of the firm’s Employee Benefit Plan Audit and Public Company/SEC Groups. She earned her bachelor’s of science degree in accounting from John Carroll University in 2000.
  • Varsafsky – formerly was a receptionist with the firm’s Greensburg office, and previously performed bookkeeping for a closely held, family-owned business.

Malin Bergquist doubled in size last year to more than 100 employees following mergers with two firms – Erie’s Diefenbach Delio Kearney & DeDionisio and Greensburg’s Deluzio Teems & Anzovino.
