on the way" about how the American Jobs Creation
Act of 2004 will help U.S. manufacturers to compete more
effectively.
Dec. 12, 2004 – The
news of Albert
Isacks’ promotion to director, estate
services, is published in the Erie Times-News. Among
his clients are corporations, non-profit organizations, partnerships
and individuals, as well as clients of law firms and bank
trust departments in a variety of states, ranging from Pennsylvania,
Ohio, New York and New Jersey to Wisconsin, Florida and California.

Bergquist is quoted in two Pittsburgh
Business Times features about the positive effect
the Sarbanes Oxley Act has had on local and regional
firms – “Smaller
Firms, Bigger Clients” and “Accounting,
Public Firms Change Auditing Clients More Frequently.”
Aug. 5, 2004 – In
his role as chairman of the North Hills YMCA, David
Bluemling helps break ground for a new $7 million
facility in Franklin Park, to open in September 2005.

7, 2004 – David
Bluemling, managing partner of the firm’s
Pittsburgh office, is named a “2004
Fast Tracker” by the Pittsburgh Business
Times. He is the only managing partner of
a CPA firm to receive this honor. The Business Times bestows
its annual awards on “50 business professionals
under the age of 45 who are making a difference in their
business life and community.”
May 9, 2004 – William
Finnecy is named president of the Erie
Chapter of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public
Accountants for 2004-2005. He has served on many of the
organization's committees and is a member of the American
Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Ohio Society
of Certified Public Accountants.
April 14, 2004 – Albert Isacks authors an article, “The
Team Approach to Estates,” in a special financial
planning supplement to the Erie Times-News.

26, 2004 - David Bluemling is quoted in the Pittsburgh Business Times about the ramifications
of the federal alternative minimum tax (AMT).

3, 2004 - Paula
Rummell, a tax manager with the Pittsburgh office
of Malin, Bergquist, is named
co-chair of the 25th Reunion Committee of the Westminster
College Class of 1980. Her appointment was made by Elizabeth
Hines, the College’s Director of Development, who
also named Lynn Lowry-Foltz as co-chair. The reunion
is scheduled for Oct. 22, 2005.
Feb. 21, 2004 – The
firm co-sponsors PremierNight for Erie’s Cathedral
Prepatory School, helping raise more than $90,000 for the
school’s scholarship fund.

5, 2004 - Pittsburgh Business Times - David
Bluemling comments on the impact to downtown Pittsburgh
businesses of the City's proposed tax increases under
Pennsylvania's Act 47.

1, 2004 - Jeffrey Deane, who leads the
International Business Practice of Malin, Bergquist, is elected a partner of the firm. In his practice,
he specializes in providing audit, accounting and consulting
services to foreign companies operating in Pittsburgh
and Western Pennsylvania. He also coordinates the firm's
sponsorship of the German-American Business Circle to
create an economic development infrastructure to attract
and retain German companies in the Pittsburgh region.
