Dec. 27, 2005 - Partner Jeffrey Deane authors a compelling and insightful article in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette underscoring the importance of foreign-owned companies to our regional economy. Full text.

Nov. 4, 2005 - Malin, Bergquist client James Druschel, CFO of VEKA, Inc., receives the Pittsburgh Busines Times "CFO of the Year" award in the category of medium private company.

October 2005 - CPA Elaine Karle joins the Erie office, with more than 20 years of tax experience.

July 14, 2005 - The firm forms a joing venture with Buffamante, Whipple & Buttafaro, PC of Olean and Jamestown, NY to expand the professional team on behalf of clients and to provide enhanced, services to the insurance industry. The joint venture - BWB Bergquist, LLC , will serve more than 45 property and casualty insurance companies and draw on resouces of the approximately 100 personnel of the two firms.

Summer 2005 - Albert J. Isacks, Director of Estate Services, authors a client advisory, "Stretch IRA's - What Are They and Are They For Everybody?", focusingon how to provide your beneficiaries, ypon your death, with the longest allowable period of tac deferral before allof the assets in teh IRA must be distributed. Summer 2005 - Malin, Bergquist & Co. is pleased to announce the addition of staff to our Erie Offices: Lori Hetrick, CPA, Jeff Froelich and Matt Zinna as staff accountants.

May 25, 2005 - Chris Luikart joins the firm as Information Technology Manager. He previously spent more than eight years in the pharmaceutical areana in a wide variety of IT capacities.

Jan. 2005 - Lisa M. Block and Timothy A. Carfang joined the Pittsburgh office as accountants. The firm also promotes Padraic D. McGrath (Pittsburgh) and Karen Burns (Erie) to supervisors and Jennifer L. Ruck (Pittsburgh) and Rebecca Dudenhoeffer (Erie) to seniors.
