Dec. 19, 2007- As immediate past president of the Beaver (PA) Area Heritage Foundation, chief marketing officer Mark Miner attends a Pittsburgh 250 press conference announcing the selection of 100 regional and grassroots groups to receive a total of $1 million in funding during the region's 250th anniversary in 2008. The Heritage Foundation's $5,000 grant will be used to equip the Fort McIntosh Garrison with new uniforms and gunpowder. The grants are awarded by the Allegheny Conference on Community Development and The Sprout Fund,

Dec. 8, 2007 - The Erie Times-News quotes partner William Finnecy, Erie, in a story based on his remarks at a press conference with U.S. Rep. Phil English (R-Pa.) warning taxpayers about potential delays in receiving tax refunds as a fallout from the Alternative Minimum Tax. In the congressman's press release, Finnecy says: “Congressional inaction on the AMT patch, a one year extension of expiring AMT tax breaks, has potentially left taxpayer refunds hostage for 2007 until it’s fixed, or worse requiring taxpayers to file amended returns after the filing season has begun because Congress subsequently decided at their convenience to fix it.”

Nov. 20, 2007 - The Erie County Bar Association hosts a seminar for lawyers on "Selected Issues in Business Planning," where partner William Finnecy, Erie, speaks on choice of entity options as well as new business valuation standards issued by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Nov. 17, 2007 - Malin Bergquist serves as a co-sponsor of the "Ladies Only Luncheon" of the Dr. Gertrude A. Barber National Institute in Erie, with proceeds to benefit programs for children with disabilities.

Nov. 15, 2007 - For the second straight year, chief marketing officer Mark Miner presents guest lectures to senior marketing students at the West Virginia University College of Business and Economics on the topic of “Tough Lessons in Real Life Marketing and Public Relations."

November 2007 - Partner Clarence Kearney is elected to the board of directors and as treasurer of “Roar on the Shore,” Erie's annual motorcycle rally to be held July 17-20, 2008.

Nov. 14, 2007 - Four new accountants have joined the firm, and one accountant has been promoted, all in Erie. The new accountants are Lindsey Bierer, Melanie Conover, Nicholas Kaliszewski and Jeanette Kistler, and the promotion includes Jeff Froehlich to staff accountant II. Click for details.

Nov. 10-11, 2007 - Accounting supervisors Ryan Brosius and Rebecca Dudenhoefer, Erie, serve as alumni mentors for sophomore accounting students in the Eighth Annual Business Bridge, hosted by the Sam and Irene Black School of Business of Penn State Erie, The Behrend College.

Nov. 7, 2007 - The Financial Standards Accounting Board (FASB) votes to defer the effective date of FIN 48 for all non-public entities to periods beginning after December 15, 2007. This action is a welcome response to a recent letter issued by the Private Company Financial Reporting Committee that recommended that FASB delay the effective date of FASB FIN 48. Nov. 1, 2007 – Audit supervisor Rebecca Dudenhoeffer, Erie, presented at the Nonprofit Partnership’s Seventh Annual Northwestern Pennsylvania Nonprofit Day.  Her talk, “Tracking Dedicated Funds, Restricted Grants and Gifts in Kind,” was given to nearly 75 members of the nonprofit community.

Oct. 8, 2007 - CPAmerica International, part of the world’s sixth largest association of independent accounting and management consulting firms, announces that it will bring more than 150 CPA firm audit partners and marketing and technology specialists to Pittsburgh for its annual conference in 2008.
