Dodds Joins Malin Bergquist, a Pittsburgh Top 10 CPA Firm, As Director of Public Company/Sarbanes Oxley Services

PITTSBURGH, Feb. 19, 2007 – CPA Anthony J. Dodds has joined Malin, Bergquist and Company, LLP, a Pittsburgh “Top 10” CPA firm, as Director of its Public Company Services.  Malin Bergquist expects its volume of public company audit and Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) compliance services to grow significantly under Dodds’ leadership.

Malin Bergquist is one of a handful of Pittsburgh regional CPA firms registered with the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) to prepare and issue audit reports for U.S. public companies. Its public company clients are in the fields of information technology, environmental remediation, publication/distribution and insurance. The firm also provides Section 404 assistance for public companies in connection with SOX reporting and compliance as overseen by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

The SOX compliance industry continues to expand for firms such as Malin Bergquist as an increasing number of non-profit and private organizations are adopting SOX controls in addition to large and small public companies that the law was created to address.

Dodds formerly was manager of assurance and advisory business services with Ernst & Young in Pittsburgh, where he advised clients on Securities and Exchange Commission reporting, Sarbanes-Oxley and other matters for clients in the industries of manufacturing, retail, technology, construction, healthcare and gaming.  Previously, he was senior manager of corporate accounting for Del Monte Foods in Pittsburgh, director of financial planning for a former division of Hershey Foods, and held various financial management roles within the H.J. Heinz Company. He is a 1991 graduate of the University of Vermont, where he obtained a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration.  Dodds subsequently obtained a Master of Science Degree in Taxation from Robert Morris University and has been a CPA in Pennsylvania since 1995.

The news follows last month’s announcement of Malin Bergquist’s merger with Deluzio, Teems & Anzovino, one of Westmoreland County’s largest CPA firms. DTA, now operating as a division of Malin Bergquist, is renowned for its broad clientele ranging from businesses and individuals to governmental and not-for-profit organizations, with clients having operations in Florida, North Carolina, Tennessee and Texas, as well as in China, Puerto Rico and England. As a result of the merger, the firm is now the 10th largest CPA firm in Pittsburgh based on the total number of local employees.

In addition to its public companies specialty, Malin Bergquist is known for providing audits and consulting for foreign-owned businesses operating in Western Pennsylvania. The firm also practices in the areas of automobile dealerships, financial institutions, tax-exempt organizations and family owned businesses.
