Goldsmith Joins Erie Office of Malin Bergquist
CPA Firm As Audit Manager

ERIE, PA, April 9, 2007 – CPA Timothy A. Goldsmith has joined Malin, Bergquist and Company, LLP, one of Erie’s oldest and largest accounting firms, the latest in a series of major expansions of the firm since February 1, 2007.

Goldsmith, an audit manager, will provide audit services to clients ranging from not for profit organizations to public companies, including Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) compliance. He has 22 years of experience in financial reporting and public accounting.

Prior to joining Malin Bergquist, Goldsmith was an accounting manager with a public company in the retail industry with over $500 million in revenue (Rent Way, Inc.) in Erie. He reported to the chief financial officer and administered compliance with SEC and accounting regulations. In this role, he managed profit, loss and incentive reporting for 800 leased store properties nationwide. He also prepared and reviewed disclosure statements filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, and assisted with documentation and testing of internal controls to ensure compliance with the SOX law.

In his earlier tenure with CPA firms, Goldsmith managed audits for closely held companies in the fields of manufacturing, construction, timber management, petroleum and automobile dealerships. Some of his clients had out-of-state subsidiaries in such places as California and Budapest, Hungary. Among other accomplishments, he helped clients build new accounting processes, and developed policies and procedures in connection with revenue recognition. For one client, he led the company’s inaugural financial statement audit to satisfy lender covenants and helped facilitate a $34 million asset sale.

Goldsmith received his bachelor of science in business administration degree in accounting in 1985 from the Pennsylvania State University. He has been a certified public accountant in Pennsylvania since 1987.

The Firm’s Ongoing Expansion Since February - In mid-February, the firm announced that CPA Anthony J. Dodds had joined the firm as Director of its Public Company/SEC Group. Dodds formerly was manager of assurance and advisory business services with Ernst & Young, where he advised clients on SEC reporting, Sarbanes-Oxley for companies in manufacturing, retail, technology, construction, healthcare and gaming. Previously, he was senior manager of corporate accounting for Del Monte Foods in Pittsburgh, director of financial planning for a former division of Hershey Foods, and various financial management roles within the H.J. Heinz Company.

On Feb. 1, Malin Bergquist announced its merger with Deluzio, Teems & Anzovino, one of Westmoreland County’s largest CPA firms. DTA, now operating as a division of Malin Bergquist, is renowned for its broad clientele ranging from businesses and individuals to governmental and not-for-profit organizations, with clients having operations in Florida, North Carolina, Tennessee and Texas, as well as in China, Puerto Rico and England. As a result of the merger, the firm is now the 10th largest CPA firm in Pittsburgh based on the total number of local employees.
