Jeffrey E. Beach, CPA, CVA

Chief Operating Officer

Jeffrey E. Beach is chief operating officer of  Malin, Bergquist & Company, LLP, the largest and one of the most aggressively-growing CPA firms in Erie.  He oversees a team which serves some of the best-known companies and non-profit organizations in Northwest Pennsylvania. 

Surrounded by a strong support infrastructure, Jeff also is managing partner of the Erie office and maintains an active tax and consulting practice. He is as much an advisor and analyst for clients as a tax specialist and family-business solution provider, based on more than two decades of providing diverse CPA services. 

Jeff and his group in Erie have worked together on a daily basis for more than 15 years, providing clients with long-term continuity and broad expertise.  Operating on an even keel, he knows how to objectively analyze complicated sets of facts and to articulate solutions that are easy to understand and practical to implement. 

Jeff focuses on thoroughly understanding clients’ underlying operations and objectives so he can provide effective, tailored advice.  This ranges from tax compliance and wealth management to estate planning and operational issues.  He is an expert in organizational structure, internal control evaluation and management consulting. One of Jeff’s niche practices is representing automobile dealers, which have their own unique, complex accounting systems covering profit centers such as service, parts, warranties and sales.

Another of Jeff’s specialties is consulting with owners of family-run businesses in the transfer of ownership and/or wealth to the second- and third-generation.  With an understanding of these sensitive and often emotionally charged issues, he knows what approaches generally work or fail, where conflict points can arise, and how to ask the right types of questions.  His certified valuation analyst (CVA) designation is evidence of his skill in determining the value of non-liquid assets in a privately owned company. 

Jeff joined the firm in 1979 after spending two years as an accountant with a tooling and molding manufacturer in Meadville, PA.  This experience helped him grasp the importance of providing practical financial data as a useful, real-time management tool for business leaders in a fast-paced environment.  Jeff holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting (1977) from Thiel College.

Professional & Community Affiliations - Jeff is a member of both the American and Pennsylvania Institutes of Certified Public Accountants and the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts. He is a board director of the Erie Zoo and formerly served as the President of the Board of Sarah Reed Children's Center and Chairman of the Finance Committee. He is active in many church activities and has served as President of the Board of Trustees.
