VEKA was founded in 1967 in Sendenhorst, Germany, producing roller shutters out of a fifteen thousand square foot rented facility. Two years later, one of the original employees, Heinrich Laumann purchased the company and began designing window systems, the first of which were unveiled in 1971. Six years later, VEKA was able to build a revolutionary manufacturing site, which was hailed as a technological marvel in its time.
VEKA's U.S. operations also had modest beginnings in 1983. The company quickly outgrew its rented facility, as the demand for its high quality vinyl products grew rapidly in the US in 3 short years. In 1986, VEKA constructed the industry's first highly automated computer-controlled compounding and extrusion complex located in Fombell, PA just 35 miles north of Pittsburgh. This facility is dedicated to the PVC window and door market as well as vinyl fence deck and rail. The Pennsylvania facility is the US corporate headquarters and currently employs more than 400 people.
Today, VEKA’s headquarters is 600,000 sq. ft. and has spawned a 200,000 sq. ft. sister facility in Reno, Nevada and a 100,000 sq. ft. facility in Terrell, Texas, just outside of Dallas. All poised and ready for future expansion.
